From Dread to Glad in Two Minutes
Here is one thing I never want to forget: I am endlessly lucky to exist.
Some days, though, the alluring hypnosis of run-run-run rhythm carries me away, and I become mildly discombobulated and irritated.
Here is a 2-minute formula to become centered and oriented to living in gratitude, wonder, creativity, and joy.
1) List FIVE things that you currently notice with your senses and that bring you PLEASURE:
- Birds singing
- Cold orange juice in a tall glass
- Warm sunshine on my cheekbones
- Smell of lavender from the garden
- My bright yellow notebook
2) Recall FIVE small victories that you can CELEBRATE right now:
- Went on a field trip with my son's 3rd grade
- A 5-month project for a client - finished today!
- Took the doggie for a run this morning
- Fixed the curtains
- Scheduled 2 meditation workshops in the next 3 weeks
3) FIVE little or big things that you are GRATEFUL for right now:
- I can work from my deck
- Soup
- Pool opens tomorrow
- My kids
- My job is to help people experience deep inner tranquility and get in touch with the heartfulness and Soulfulness of life.
This short 2-minute exercise usually helps me breathe a bit easier and be on a bit brighter side.
Do you have short rituals that help you reset and remember what matters?
