On Resentment Towards Your Work

Do you feel like you are slowly dying inside?

Being bored with your job comes at a high cost.

You are not using and developing YOUR talents, and your talent is not some kind of random Amazon parcel that arrives at your doorstep and that you can send back at any time.

The Source that created you doesn't accept returns and doesn't issue refunds.

You were given gifts ---> to use them ----> at challenges ----> to solve problems ----> to change something in the world you care for.

That's your purpose, job, and duty in the world (in the East, they call it dharma).

You can't forfeit it without facing consequences.

You will feel dull and lifeless, screaming inside, like a passenger locked inside a train that doesn't move, staring out the window as your life passes by.

The voices of unused purpose will start singing to you louder and louder until they scream at you about the road you must take but are too afraid to walk.

No amount of bonuses, traveling, or hobbies will fill that hole in your heart.

And that's how it should be because something must tell you that you are going in the wrong direction. Because life unfolds in circles and our directions change.

What fulfilled you in your 30s might not be yours anymore in your 40s. Why should it be? You are not failing - you outgrew yourself and are looking for a new challenge.

The only thing that will make this ache go away is growing and giving our gift, whatever it is.

CHOICE 1: We give ourselves to our cause and grow in the process ---> we get fulfillment from that.

CHOICE 2: We don't give ourselves, and sooner or later, when our grace period runs out, we start hurting.

As a skeptical person who lived through this mysterious transformation myself, I have bad news and good news.

Bad news: you can't fight your heart and win. You can't hide from, deny, or destroy your own desire to expand and experience new things. It is in your DNA, as well as the DNA of every other living being and the Universe itself, which is always expanding. Growth comes from challenges, so you need challenges.

Good news: the force that seems like is aiming to destroy our previous well-set life is extremely mighty, is on our side, and can create wonders and miracles for us. If you are willing to trust and follow it. And, well, for those of us who are naturally timid and risk-averse, don't worry - you don't have much choice about whether to follow that Call or not (see the bad news paragraph above).

All you need is love, indeed. And the courage to follow that love and make your life about it.
