Am I Holding Myself Back Because I Am Too Afraid to Make a Mistake?

Even and especially in our 30's (40s, 70s, etc), we deserve a chance to learn.

Which means we are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them.

Being harsh on myself when I make a mistake ---> teaches my nervous system the wrong lesson ---> I am punished for trying something new ---> robs me of the courage to try again ---> I stay in my comfort zone ---> I stagnate.

Mistake => Opportunity to grow my skillset and experience => I am better equipped for next time => Path to glory :)

No mistakes => There is no next time because there was never a first time when I failed => Stagnation => Path to nowhere.

Forgive me for being so radical.

Surgeons, NASA engineers, airplane pilots, and regulatory writers - please forget everything you just read, unless you are in a mood for switching careers :).

This post is aimed at people like myself who are so afraid to make a mistake in something they care for that they freeze and do nothing at all.

For me to remember:

You are not bad at something.
You are learning how to be good at it.
Give yourself a chance to learn.
