Draft post title
The secret to effortless meditation is not discipline or will power. People get it all wrong, so no surprise they quit meditating.
It is about joy, and making your meditation practice be rooted in what you love.
Cats know it.
Dogs know it.
Kids know it.
We, adults, are the only silly beings who lost that insight.
Getting to that inner peace and comfort is about becoming a kid again and remembering how to be fascinated with little things in life.
Like puddles in the rain.
Or the taste of a snowflake.
It is about leaving some space in life for poetry, and all things subtle, mysterious, and powerful.
Like sunsets, or mountains, or watching the moon rise over the horizon.
It is about asking our Soul to teach us how to fall in love with life again.
And we can't get there by forcing ourselves to sit still while we shame our mind for every thought that it creates.
Hell no.
Shame gets you nowhere.
Meditation is not about submission to some old rules that God knows who came up with God knows when and for God knows what reasons.
It is about spending some time in active appreciation of something you adore or hold dear.
Be it summer thunderstorms, a kitten, or dancing under the stars.
Either remember what brought you joy or actually do it.
Say hi to that rain or pet that kitty.
And then close your eyes and let the gratitude for being human and having a human heart permeate your body, from head to toes.
There, you meditated.
It is not about thoughts or no thoughts, people.
It is about allowing ourselves some time to notice how much beauty exists on Earth.
