Want More Mindfulness in 10 Minutes? Start with your Meals

Want more mindfulness? Commit to eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner sitting down, without electronics or work.

Spending at least 10 minutes to eat and digest your food.

I know that I am out of balance when I:
- eat my breakfast standing or in the car.
- wait until 2 pm to eat lunch.
- look in my phone while eating dinner.

Unclear short term gains - I guess I saved 5 minutes?

Ver clear long term losses:
Stress. Indigestion. Loading on unhealthy snacks. Low energy. Weight gain.

There is something clearly off in my relationship with my body and my time if I can’t GIVE myself uninterrupted 10 minutes to sit down and eat.

A mindset of: Work is more important than my health.

Also, I don’t want to eat undisrtracted because that’s when my body can get to me and let me know that I mistreated it.

- I overworked last night.
- I am going too fast and too aggressive after my goals.
- My neck hurts from too much typing.
- I are not hungry. I am sleep deprived.

Not something I want to hear.

But pressing mute button on messages from my body will lead to my health, well, being wasted.

I commit to playing the game of life long term.

Which means I will need my health for that.

And I can’t have health if I don’t feed myself.

PS If you relate to this, please give yourself some kindness and slack. I am a full time meditation coach, and I struggle with this. It is not us, it is systemic neglect of the body wisdom.

All we can do is recognize it and gently but firmly commit to a different relationship with our bodies.
